(ATLANTA) — NASCAR driver Tony Stewart will be back in a race car Sunday night for the first time following a deadly accident.
Stewart has taken three weeks off after his car struck and killed Kevin Ward Jr. on a Sprint Car Track.
The racing community has welcomed him back, including NASCAR President Mike Helton, who said, “He’s been a great asset to NASCAR and a great champion, so it’s nice to have him back.”
Stewart has not been charged in Ward’s death but the investigation is still ongoing.
Sunday night’s race is at the Atlanta Motor Speedway at 7:30 p.m. ET.
