Jordy Nelson Leaves Preseason Game with Knee Injury
Published at | Updated at(PITTSBURGH) — Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson left Sunday’s preseason game with a knee injury that could cost him the 2015 season.
Nelson, the top target of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, left the game after a catch on the Packers’ first drive of the game. He landed awkwardly and later limped off the field. The initial diagnosis, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said on Twitter, is a torn ACL, which would take him out of commission for the season.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy called it a “tough day of football,” adding that until the team got back to Green Bay, they won’t have a final diagnosis on Nelson’s knee.
Rodgers told members of the media that it was particularly difficult losing Nelson at the beginning of Sunday’s game. “You hate to see [injuries] in preseason,” he added, “because it doesn’t count for anything.”
