UPDATE: Roadside gunshot injury ruled suicide attempt

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has determined yesterday’s gunshot injury at 49th N. and 29th E. was an attempted suicide. Sgt. Bryan Lovell said the female was injured by single gunshot wound, according to a news release.

At the time of the release the female was being treated for her injury at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

IDAHO FALLS — The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting involving a woman inside a vehicle.

Deputies and Idaho Falls ambulance workers were called to 49th N. and 29th E. around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5. They discovered a woman with a gunshot wound to her chest inside of a vehicle stopped on the road. Deputies say she was alone in the car.

The woman was communicating, according to Bonneville County Sheriff Sgt. Bryan Lovell. She was rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance where her condition is unknown.

Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and a detective is at the hospital gathering information.
