The Carolina Reapers coming to Idaho Falls

  Published at  | Updated at

When you’ve won the Joe Bonnamssa blues guitar competition by age 17 and jammed onstage with legendary rockers Cheap Trick, what do you do for an encore? Play the Live United Concert Series, of course!

That’s what guitar ace Morgan Celner and his band, The Carolina Reapers, will be doing Thursday at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. The Reapers peddle a gritty yet soulful brand of bluesy rock. Also including drummer Mateus Gooch and bassist Alex Holloway, The Reapers mix Morgan Celner’s warm, growling guitars and his soulful vocal delivery with Gooch’s bouncy, buoyant percussion.

Their sound references everyone from blues legends like Buddy Guy to classic rockers like AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.

The Reapers pack a lot of energy and emotion into their live shows. Celner pogos his body around the stage like a rubber bouncy ball while getting up on his tippy toes, exhaling every last bit of energy into his vocal performances. Gooch’s steady but rollicking drum beats are the glue that holds the whole thing together. That energy infects the audience and soon the whole crowd is into it, dancing, laughing and having a great time!

Opening Thursday’s show are local favorites The Opskamatrists. Food and drinks will be provided by local vendors. The show kicks off at 6 p.m., and the party goes until 9. So come check out The Carolina Reapers. Be there or be square!
