Linsanity Returns in L.A. Victory

Linsanity Returns in L.A. Victory

NBA via New York Knicks(LOS ANGELES, Ca.) -- On a night reminiscent of the mania that swept the NBA community by storm three years ago, "Linsanity" carried the Lakers to a 118-11 overtime victory against the Boston Celtics.

Jeremy Lin brought out his best game as a Laker as he completed 10-15 from the floor Sunday night, leading L.A. with 25 points.

The win snapped a seven game losing streak for Los Angeles (14-41), but they didn't make it easy. The Celtics rallied from seven points down with less than 30 seconds to go in the game. Avery Bradley knocked down a three pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 106 and send it to overtime.

The Celtics, who announced that Jared Sullinger would miss the remainder of the season before tipoff, could not find an answer to stop Lin. He would be the catalyst in overtime as he would knock down two baskets and dish out three assists.

"Jeremy Lin killed us the whole night," Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said. "He was really effective in a lot of ways -- not only scoring the ball, but also getting into the paint and making plays for others."

Celtics Forward Jared Sullinger to Miss the Remainder of the Season

Celtics Forward Jared Sullinger to Miss the Remainder of the Season

NBA via Boston Celtics(LOS ANGELES) -- In the midst of having the best season of his young career, Boston Celtics forward Jared Sullinger will miss the rest of the season with a left metatarsal stress fracture.

According to Sullinger, he was experiencing discomfort in his foot since Feb. 11 during the team's win over the Atlanta Hawks.

"Supposedly it happened in the Atlanta game, and he was talking a little bit about it [Wednesday] with regard to feeling some discomfort, and so he went through a little bit of practice then pulled himself out," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said earlier this week. "Ed took him to get the X-ray [Thursday]."

Sullinger has emerged as one of the Celtics best players/rebounders. Despite a slew of trades made by the team this season, Boston still finds itself just 1 1/2 games behind the Brooklyn Nets for the 8th and final playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.

In his third season, the 22-year-old Sullinger was averaging 14.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season.

Brad Stevens Denies Rumors He’s Going Back to the College Ranks

Brad Stevens Denies Rumors He’s Going Back to the College Ranks

Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- As the Boston Celtics dive further and further into their rebuilding effort, head coach Brad Stevens has denied any rumors that he will eventually leave the team for a college job.

“I’ve committed to being here,” Stevens told Paul Flannery of SB Nation. “I’ve already left a situation once and that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to choose to do. This is something that as long as they want me to be here, this is what I want to be doing and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got."

As the team slips further into the standings, there have been whispers saying Stevens will jump ship back to the collegiate ranks -- specifically replacing Tom Cream at Indiana.

"I know it’s all specific to the rumor mills and the discussion of one spot," Stevens continued. "I think they’ve got a good coach who’s done a helluva job. He doesn’t deserve that speculation."

Stevens experienced tremendous success at Butler, which led him to being hired by the Celtics last season at the age of 36. He signed a six-year deal with the Celtics prior to the 2013-2014 season.
