NFL via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Less than three weeks after holding a retirement ceremony in Pittsburgh, veteran linebacker James Harrison has decided to come back and return to the Steelers.
“It’s really family here, and I wanted to come back and finish it off where it started,” Harrison said earlier this month.
The Steelers recently lost two of their starting linebackers as Jarvis Jones and Ryan Shazier were both injured Sunday night against the Carolina Panthers. Facing a shortage of linebackers, the team decided to go back in time to bring back one of their long-time leaders.
The 36-year-old Harrison spent the first nine of his ten-year career with the Steelers and won two Super Bowls during his time in Pittsburgh. He played one season with the Cincinnati Bengals and decided that 2013 would be his last season in the NFL, before returning.

Pittsburgh Steelers/NFL(PITTSBURGH) — Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list Monday, according to ESPN.com.
Jones had surgery on his wrist Monday after he dislocated it during the team’s 37-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers Sunday.
The Steelers used their one annual injured reserve exemption on Jones, meaning the linebacker will be able to practice in six weeks and play in a game in eight weeks if deemed healthy.
The 24-year-old Jones, who was drafted by the Steelers with the 17th overall selection of the 2013 NFL Draft, had 14 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in three games this season.
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, linebacker James Harrison, who retired less than three weeks ago, is expected to join the Steelers.
