(LONDON) — The Netherlands will have a king for the first time in more than a century.
Dutch Queen Beatrix announced Monday that she is abdicating the throne to her son, Prince Willem-Alexander. Beatrix will turn 75 on Thursday.
Willem-Alexander, 45, will become king on April 30.
The prince is married to Princess Maxima Zorrigueta. They have three young children.
