LAPD Provides Details on Sunday Night Officer-Involved Shooting
Published at | Updated at(LOS ANGELES) — The Los Angeles Police Department released a description of an apparent officer-involved shooting that took place Sunday night.
According to police, a pair of officers were driving in their police vehicle at about 9:20 p.m. Sunday when they heard gunfire and saw the flash from a muzzle. It is unclear whether the officers were fired upon, but police said that following the sound and sight of an apparent gunshot, at least one of the officers fired their weapon.
One person of interest was detained on Sunday night, but a second who police saw running from the area was not.
The LAPD says it recovered a handgun and a rifle from the scene, along with numerous bullet casings. Neither of the officers, nor the person of interest who was arrested, were injured.
An investigation into the incident is under way.
