Michigan-based theater chain Emagine Entertainment is distributing free tickets for screenings of The Interview at its Canton location on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The catch? Emagine is asking its customers to donate to Michigan’s Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund, which provides assistance to veterans.

Emagine co-founder and chairman Paul Glantz tells The Hollywood Reporter, “This is really about defending our liberties…[The military veterans helped by the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund] are the real defenders of our liberties.”

“These are people who have risked their lives for things like our First Amendment rights,” he adds.

Major movie theater chains chose not to screen The Interview, which depicts the fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, following threats from hackers. Sony subsequently cancelled the film’s Christmas Day release date, though it made the movie available on online platforms.

Tickets for the Canton screenings of The Interview are available on Emagine-Entertainment.com. The comedy will screen at the theater from Wednesday through Jan. 8.
