Claiming that the United Nations’ International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF) was created “under the order and pressure of America,” and calling it “an invading military force consisting of troops from 42 nations,” the Taliban makes clear that the exit of international forces is a welcome change.

“The savagery and crimes committed under the shadow of the force in Afghanistan and unfortunately the ‘Peace Keepers’ as labeled by the United Nations are not hidden from anyone,” the letter continued. The Taliban says that “thousands of innocent Afghans…were burnt in the fire of barbarism and cruelty of these so called Peace Keepers.”

America, NATO and ISAF, the Taliban declares, were handed a “clear cut defeat.” Citing the “tens of thousands of soldiers” who “were killed and wounded,” as well as the “billions of dollars wasted…nations were exhausted…countries faced economic turmoil and even recession,” the Taliban called the international combat mission a failure.

“Perhaps their own people have now realized that invading Afghanistan and commencing combat missions was butting heads with mountains and the most idiotic decision in modern history,” the letter plainly states.

Finally, the Taliban says, it will not be fooled by the changing of the name of the NATO mission: “Our courageous nation shall continue its Jihad and struggle so long as a single foreigner remains in Afghanistan in a military uniform.”
