Police: $530,000 Embezzled from College of Southern Idaho
Published atTWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) – A south-central Idaho woman police say embezzled more than half a million dollars from the College of Southern Idaho has been charged with grand theft.
The Times-News reports that 41-year-old Dawn Marie Orr of Twin Falls is charged with five felony counts involving the missing $530,000.
Court documents filed Wednesday state that Orr, a former business office employee, has been issued a felony summons.
Court records say Orr in July asked for a meeting with her boss and another school official and told them she had taken money and had so much guilt she couldn’t live with it any longer.
Orr blamed a gambling problem.
School officials say Orr had a key to the vault room where the college’s safe was typically left open during business hours.
