NASA Delays Spacewalk Due to Spacesuit Issue
Published at(NEW YORK) — The first of three spacewalks to ready the International Space Station for a pair of international docking adapters, initially scheduled for Friday, will be pushed back until Saturday for technical reasons.
NASA says the first spacewalk will take place at 7:10 a.m. on Saturday. The second and third spacewalks are now scheduled for 7:10 a.m. on Feb. 25 and March 1. The mission management team had been working on an issue with corrosion on the ball bearings of the spacesuits’ fan pump.
The first spacewalk was delayed a day to ensure the fan pump is working.
The adapters, once installed, will allow future crews launched from Florida on U.S. commercial spacecraft to dock to the space station.
