One Killed, At Least Two Injured in Cape Cod Shooting
Published at(BOURNE, Mass.) — One woman was killed and at least two people — including a police officer — were injured on Thursday morning as part of an ambush on Cape Cod.
At about 2 a.m. Thursday, police in Bourne responded to a car fire. While at the scene, a woman called 911 to report that she and a second woman had been shot by a man who fled the house they were in. When officers attempted to approach the home, the gunman opened fire.
One officer was shot in the back, while the others reported being unable to exit the area or continue to the victims due to the gunfire.
The gunman was eventually arrested on murder and attempted murder charges. The injured officer was airlifted to a hospital.
Officers on the scene initially reported finding what appeared to be incendiary devices, but the Massachusetts State Police later said the devices were hoaxes.
There was no update on the condition of the second woman and the injured officer.
Thoughts & prayers to @BournePD after officer shot this morning. Officer, his family & brother/sister officers are in our thoughts. #BeSafe
