Roof Ripped Off Double-Decker Bus in London after Striking Tree

iStock/Thinkstock(LONDON) — A terrifying moment on board one of London’s iconic double-decker buses on Monday.

At least five people were injured after the bus collided with a low-hanging tree, ripping the roof of the bus.

Ethan Meade, a student at the London School of Economics and Political Science, told the BBC he turned around when he heard a crash.

“I saw the roof fall down off the side of the bus and the glass shatter everywhere,” Meade told the BBC.

Officials called the incident a “freak accident,” saying all passengers were lucky they weren’t more seriously injured.
