Ambassador Caroline Kennedy Receives Death Threats
Published at(TOKYO) — Police in Tokyo are investigating death threats phoned into the U.S. Embassy against Ambassador Caroline Kennedy.
There were also threats reportedly made to the U.S. Consul General in Okinawa, where the U.S. has about 25,000 troops based.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo told ABC News she could not comment on the threats.
The threats come a short time after U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert was injured in a knife attack.
Kennedy took over as ambassador to Japan in late 2013.
