Before his interview with Kimmel, Obama took part in one of the program’s most popular features by reading some “Mean Tweets” about himself.

Keeping a straight face, Obama recited the following tweet from @carold5401, “Obama’s hair is looking grayer these days. Can’t imagine why since he doesn’t seem to be one bit worried about all that’s going on.”

Another tweet from @RWSurferGirl touched on the president’s favorite pastime, golf. Without cracking a smile, Obama read, “Is there any way we could fly Obama to some golf course halfway around the world and just leave him there?”  The president then quipped, “I think that’s a great idea.”

Obama even read a tweet about the couple of times he was seen in public wearing “mom” jeans, which was widely mocked by fashionistas.

At that point, Kimmel showed up in the scene, wearing a high-waisted pair whereupon the president joked that his critics may have had a point.

The “Mean Tweets” segment was followed by a regular interview in which Kimmel jokingly introduced his guest as “the first Kenyan-born Muslim socialist ever elected to run this country.”

Obama told Kimmel that the tweets weren’t all that bad, given what he gets from the Republican-led Senate.

Ever the good sport, Obama fended off Kimmel’s light-hearted barbs that even included a joke about whether the president had Hillary Clinton’s new email address, a reference to her using a personal email account while secretary of state.

Obama responded that he couldn’t share Clinton’s email address with his host because she specifically didn’t want Kimmel to have it.

Meanwhile, Kimmel said that if he ever became president, the first thing he would do is look at classified information about aliens and UFOs.

The president said that he hadn’t looked himself but that’s because “the aliens won’t let that happen…they exercise strict control.”

The interview, however, wasn’t all lighthearted banter.

Obama also addressed the situation in Ferguson, where two police officers were shot early Thursday amid protests. Both of the officers were later released from the hospital, but the shooting brings new focus and concern for the St. Louis suburb, which has been reeling since the August police shooting of unarmed black teen Michael Brown, as well as subsequent reports about the city’s governmental practices.

“What happened in Ferguson was oppressive and was worthy of protest, but it was no excuse for criminal acts. No one should be shot. [The shooters] are criminals and need to be arrested,” Obama said.

The president also spoke about problems in Washington too, which he said can be partly blamed on two-thirds of eligible voters having not gone to the polls during the last election. As a result, Obama asserted that “special interests and big money move the agenda” in Washington.
