In a preview clip for Wednesday’s The Steve Harvey Show, Henson says, “If there’s nothing on this finger, here, if this finger’s naked, no one gets claimed. You don’t get claimed. You don’t get claimed until you claim me. Period.”

Henson, who has a 20-year-old son, Marcel, from a previous relationship, explained why she’s so strict about dating.

“You don’t get to say I dated Taraji P. Henson. You don’t get to go on a carpet and share that part of my life with me because you know what? Now today with all of this social media, it’s not private,” she explains. “So now I have a son, I don’t want [him] to be like, ‘Oh mom dated this one, he dated that one, and this and this and this.’ I can’t do that. I can’t afford that.”

She continues, “If you’re not serious, don’t even open your mouth. Shake my hand and keep it moving. I’ve accomplished so much in my life and right now, I just want someone to share it with.”

Previously, Henson has been linked to Common and had a rumored relationship with Baby Boy co-star Tyrese Gibson.

Henson’s character, Cookie, is a mother of three who was released from prison after serving 17 years in prison for her ex-husband, Lucious, played by Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard. The series follows the Lyon family after Cookie’s release, and as the two try to run a successful record label.

On Wednesday’s Steve Harvey Show, Henson also previews what Empire fans can expect on the series’ two-hour season finale. “I’m just so sorry what we are going to do to you guys. It’s bad,” she hints. “I will say this. Somebody else gets to serve time. I’m just saying. One of the other Lyons.”

“They messed up. That’s what happens. Ask Cookie, she knows. You break the law, you go to jail. That simple,” Henson adds.

Empire’s two-hour season finale airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
