“Days of Our Lives,” “The Young and the Restless” Split Top Prize at Daytime Emmys
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — The 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ended with a tie on Sunday night.
The top prize, outstanding drama series, was split between NBC’s Days of Our Lives and CBS’ The Young and the Restless.
Earlier in the night, Jeopardy! was named outstanding game show, while Craig Ferguson accepted the award for outstanding game show host for his work on the first-year program Celebrity Name Game.
Steve Harvey and The Ellen DeGeneres Show earned the prizes for outstanding talk show — informative and outstanding talk show — entertainment, respectively.
Betty White, 93, was recognized with a lifetime achievement award.
In a poignant moment, Melissa Rivers made an appearance as part of a tribute to her late mother, Joan Rivers.
The two hour-plus broadcast began with a pre-taped segment in which Ellen DeGeneres and Matt Lauer called a truce to their ongoing prank war. In the video, Lauer — whose head was superimposed on a sexy man’s body at one point — agreed to donate a thousand dollars to charity every time a winner thanked him during his or her acceptance speech. Several winners complied throughout the night.
Tyra Banks hosted the ceremony live from Burbank, California, on the Pop network.
