REXBURG – Centre Square Apartments, a new housing complex for male and female students at Brigham Young University-Idaho, will be formally dedicated at services to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Elder James J. Hamula, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will preside at the dedication.
“This new housing complex replaces on-campus housing that has reached the end of its useful life,” said Wayne Clark, director of University Operations at BYU-Idaho. “With this facility we’re now able to provide a better on-campus living experience for students.”
Construction began on Centre Square Apartments in October 2013. Located on the southwest corner of the BYU-Idaho campus at 650 South 1st West, the university-owned complex consists of three buildings offering a total of 850 beds. Two of the buildings house female students, with the remaining building housing male students.
Centre Square offers apartments in 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom floor plans. A total of 24 common areas dot the property including lounges, lobbies, study rooms, music rooms, and two large gathering rooms. A large green space sits between the buildings.
“As its name implies, Centre Square is a place of gathering and fellowship,” said Troy Dougherty, director of Housing and Student Living at BYU-Idaho. “This new housing complex will truly be a community of men and women centered on living the principles of the gospel.”
The dedication will be held at 11:30 a.m. and is by invitation only. The public is invited to tour the new complex during an open house to be held later that day from 3-6 p.m.
