Zendaya’s Controversial Red Carpet Looks Gets a Barbie Doll

ABC/Rick Rowell(LOS ANGELES) — Zendaya’s dreadlocked look on the Oscars red carpet earlier this year, which was notably criticized by Giuliana Rancic on E!’s Fashion Police, has now been turned into a Barbie doll.
The KC Undercover star unveiled the Zendaya Barbie doll by posting a side-by-side comparison photo of herself and the Barbie doll on Instagram. “When I was little I couldn’t find a Barbie that looked like me, my…how times have changed,” wrote the actress. “Thank you Barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be apart of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty.”
Nicki Minaj, who also had a Barbie doll made in her image, congratulated Zendaya. “I love your doll’s hair,” said the rapper on Instagram. “I love what it means for other little girls who will identify with it & be empowered.”
During an episode of Fashion Police earlier this year, Rancic joked that the Disney star’s hairstyle on the Oscars red carpet looked like it smelled of “patchouli oil” or “weed.” She later apologized.
