East Idaho Eats: Java Espress expands to Pocatello

Business & Money

POCATELLO – An east Idaho coffee shop is changing its look and adding to its list of specialty beverages.

“I think we’re definitely going to be the busiest coffee shop in town. We offer quality service, speed, personality,” manager Kate Reed said.

The new Java Espress opened it’s doors and drive thru windows in Pocatello on April 1. The new location is now the sixth Java Espress in east Idaho and it is embracing a fresh new design.

“It’s a great place, it has a great vibe (and) a great environment. (It has) the best drinks ever so I think everybody should check it out,” customer Olivia Hoge said.

Along with coffees, latte’s, and teas Java also makes smoothies, protein shakes, and flavored sodas and energy drinks.

“In the new store we’ve added this new flavored soda we already have all the syrups and we do everything in our coffee, so now we can do it in the soda as well,” owner Shane Murphy said.

Murphy said he’s excited to add to the menu, but coffee has always been Java’s main stay since it opened in 1993.

“The traditional menu item of course is coffee, iced coffee, gourmet coffee, all kinds of mochas, lattes, we have a lot of specialty products that way,” he said.

Murphy claims there is something for any customer, but for the coffee lovers a Javaccino or the Sweet Anarchy is a must. The Javaccino is a signature coffee blend comparable to other’s frappuccino. The Sweet Anarchy is an Espresso featuring white chocolate, amaretto and black cherry flavoring.

Java Espress has other locations in Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, and Twin Falls. Murphy said they plan to expand and are looking to make Java Espress available in other locations.
