Terminally ill Utah girl who received 189K Christmas cards dies

FOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah — A little Fountain Green girl who made headlines after receiving thousands of Christmas cards passed away early Friday morning.
Addie Fausett was first featured in November 2014 after her family started a campaign to have people send the terminally ill child a “lifetime of Christmas cards.” Even after many visits to neurologists at Primary Children’s, Addie’s condition went undiagnosed. She had symptoms of cerebral atrophy, a deterioration of the brain, and was told in late 2014 that she likely wouldn’t survive another year.
The support for the family’s campaign was astounding and Addie received more than 189,000 Christmas cards that year. The community also rallied to put on Fountain Green’s first-ever light parade for Addie during the Christmas of 2014, featuring 45 floats.
Addie defied the “one more year” odds and celebrated her seventh birthday in September 2015.
She passed away at 3:21 a.m. Friday at home with her family.
“Thank you for your continued prayers as we say farewell to our princess,” a family statement posted to the “Little Addie” Facebook page reads. “Her obituary will be posted later today as we, the family, step away to deal with our huge loss.”
