IDAHO FALLS — Police are investigating after a nine-month-old Idaho Falls baby died at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Robert Lawrence Saad Jr. passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, according to the child’s obituary.

Three days earlier, on Sept. 15, firefighters, EMT’s and police were called to a home on the corner of 17th Street and South Higbee Ave. where Robert was in cardiac arrest. He was rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital.

Idaho Falls Police Chief Mark McBride told EastIdahoNews.com the child injuries were suspicious and officers were investigating the cause of the injuries.

“Any time you have injuries uncommon to normal childhood, we look into it,” McBride said at the scene.

Police confirm the child’s death is still an active investigation but declined to release additional details Friday.

A funeral for Robert will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
