3-year-old Menan girl found unresponsive in canal

The following is a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

MENAN — On Monday around noon, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a 25-year-old mother.

She advised that her 3-year-old daughter was missing from their yard located on the 600 block of 3515 East in Menan. The woman advised that her daughter was missing for about 10 minutes.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded and began searching the surrounding area, including a canal that runs adjacent to the Harper’s residence.

Deputy Thomson located the 3-year-old girl face down in the canal approximately one mile downstream from the residence. Thomson removed the child from the canal and immediately began CPR. The child was unresponsive and transported to EIRMC via air ambulance. The child’s condition is unknown at this time.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Central QRU, Idaho Falls Ambulance and Air Idaho all responded to this call.
