AMMON — A teenager was taken to the hospital following a crash Friday morning that resulted in two vehicles ending up in a canal.

The wreck happened around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of 49th South and Ammon Rd.

Officials say the driver of a white Subaru failed to yield causing the teenage driver of a white Ford SUV to crash into the Subaru. Both vehicles then plummeted into a canal full of water.

The parents of the teenager took him to the hospital. The two men in the Subaru were not injured, according to authorities on the scene. A fire engine and ambulance responded to the accident but people in both vehicles were able to get out on their own.

Bonneville County deputies blocked off the area for nearly an hour Friday morning while they worked to clean up the scene.
