Published atREXBURG — Around 80 children joined with local law enforcement officers for Shop with a Cop Saturday morning.
Officers with the Rexburg, St. Anthony and Rigby Police Departments, along with deputies from the Teton, Fremont, Madison and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, partnered up with kids from across the valley and took them holiday shopping.
The officers met their temporary junior partners at the Rexburg Tabernacle around 6 a.m. before each pair drove to McDonald’s, with lights and sirens blaring, for a complimentary breakfast.
Then it was off to Walmart, where each child had photos taken with Santa Claus before hitting the aisles with their shopping lists.
“This is one of the biggest ‘Shop with a Cop’ events in the state,” Rexburg Police Capt. Randy Lewis tells EastIdahoNews.com. “The children are so excited for this and we look forward to it all year long.”
Shop with a Cop is made possible because of donations from individuals and businesses.
