Fire destroys rural home

ROBERTS — A large fire completely destroyed a Jefferson County home early Friday morning.

Local firefighters were dispatched to the home at 58 N. 3167 East around 2:15 a.m., Roberts Fire Chief Jered White told EastIdahoNews.com.

A woman, the home’s sole occupant, got out of the house safely before firefighters arrived. When firefighters got to the house, White says, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Twenty-five to 35 firefighters from the Roberts Fire District, Central Fire District and Ammon Fire Department battled the blaze.

The fire was mostly knocked down by 4:30 a.m.; however, as of 10:30 a.m., firefighters were still working to extinguish hot spots.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
