Published at | Updated atDUBOIS — It’s going to be very cold in parts of rural eastern Idaho Friday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for the following communities: Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Rigby, Ashton, Driggs, Island Park Mud Lake, Dubois, Small, Arco, Atomic City, Howe, Mackay and Chilly (an aptly named area of Custer County). The warning is in effect between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday.
Officials say dangerously cold wind chill of 20 to 30 degrees below zero is possible. Wind chill values of this level will cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes, according to the NWS forecast.
Anyone venturing outdoors should dress in layers and cover all exposed skin, including wearing a hat and mittens. If possible, move pets indoors or to a warmer shelter.
