9 injured after vehicle crashes into COVID-19 testing site in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (KSL TV) — A vehicle crashed into a tent at a COVID-19 testing site at the University of Utah on Thursday, authorities said.

The crash happened at approximately 9:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Officials said a man in a pickup truck possibly suffered a medical issue when his vehicle crashed into a mobile trailer at the testing site, according to KSL TV.

The driver had entered the testing site from the wrong direction, authorities said. He was instructed to turn around, and as he was making he turn his truck accelerated for an unknown reason.

Nine people were injured, including the driver. The man and three other individuals were transported to the hospital.

Their conditions are unknown.

The site is currently closed.
