The following is a news release from East Idaho Credit Union.

IDAHO FALLS – Since 1987, East Idaho Credit Union’s Kicks for Kids program has been raising money for new shoes for less fortunate children in Idaho.

“The program has grown so much over the years,” said Bailey Ritcheson, East Idaho Credit Union’s Marketing Generalist. “Our program is able to provide up to two shoe vouchers a year to each child in need because of the growth in donations we have seen in the last couple years. Counselors constantly reach out and express their gratitude as well as the impact they see the program making within our communities here in Idaho.”

East Idaho Credit Union has worked to grow the program increasingly each year. For the last four years, they have hosted a Kicks for Kids Golf Tournament to help raise additional funds for the program. With the help of sponsors, teams, and other donations, a total of $34,025.94 was raised at this year’s tournament. The golf tournament’s funds will provide 1,361 pairs of shoes to kids in need.

EICU’s Coins for Christmas fundraiser got underway Nov. 18 and will run through Dec. 18 this year. Due to COVID-19, there will not be coin jugs to collect spare change in every school this holiday season.

Many schools opted to have coin jugs within their schools to try the new virtual fundraiser through the Kicks for Kids website. The option to donate online through your school this year will help give the opportunity to everyone to participate while providing a new level of convenience. With many students attending online school, and the coin shortage at stake, EICU believes this online donation option will help continue to raise money during the COVID-19 pandemic.

East Idaho Credit Union encourages anyone who would like to donate to a local cause this holiday season to head over to the website.

Anyone who donates through the virtual fundraiser has the option to donate through a school of their choosing or select “other” if they prefer to donate generally. Donating through a specific school will help the school towards winning a prize if they are a top 3 school (per capita) for their fundraising efforts.
