Pocatello man pleads guilty to stabbing woman
POCATELLO — A Pocatello man pleaded guilty Monday to stabbing a woman multiple times in 2019.
Steven Skylar Drain, 30, pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault. According to the plea agreement obtained by EastIdahoNews.com, prosecutors agreed to dismiss a felony enhancement for using a deadly weapon. Prosecutors will also recommend Drain spend seven to 15 years in prison.
Police reported in October 2019, that Drain stabbed a woman multiple times. He then fled the scene and first responders rushed the woman to Portneuf Medical Center.
The woman’s injuries were severe enough that she needed further care. She was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Utah.
A short time after the stabbing, Pocatello Police arrested Drain following a stand-off in the 1500 block of Zener Street.
Sentencing for Drain is scheduled for Jan. 14 by District Judge Robert Naftz.
