Popular chicken sandwich chain opening in Ammon this spring

AMMON – A new chicken restaurant will be opening in Ammon soon.

Bill Hawes, the franchisee for Super Chix, tells EastIdahoNews.com the restaurant is between 90 and 120 days out from opening in Hillcrest Plaza next to Modern Home.

“It’s dependent on a few factors,” Hawes says. “We’ve got a select contractor. They’ve got to give me a ‘ready, set, go’ day when they can start (construction). Even with supply chain constraints on their end, they think they can get the buildout done in 60 days.”

An exact opening date will be determined once construction gets underway.

Super Chix is one of five tenants moving into the strip. It will be located in the 3,000-square-foot unit on the west end. The other tenants are The Joint Chiropractic, Luxury Nails and Spa, Jersey Mike’s Subs and Duck Donuts.

Super Chix is a fast-casual dining franchise that offers a variety of chicken sandwiches, hand-cut fries, salads and frozen custard. Hawes says one of the most popular items is The Simple chicken sandwich, a hand-breaded filet served with pickles on a butter toasted bun.

What sets Super Chix apart from similar competing restaurants, Hawes says, is that the food isn’t cooked until it’s ordered.

“Though we offer chicken sandwiches, fries and salads, we are not a fast-food restaurant,” he says. “Your food will not come out immediately. We cook it when you order it. We put a lot of care and pride into how … it’s presented (to the customer).”

The company that owns Super Chix also owns Five Guys. Hawes was involved in bringing Five Guys to Ammon and that experience played a role in his decision to open Super Chix. This particular location was appealing to him.

“It’s got a lot of gravity in that area,” he says. “It’s great to be close to the high school, other (places to shop) and the movies. There’s a lot of food choices in that area and it’s growing.”

Super Chix first opened in Dallas, Texas in 2013 and has grown to include stores throughout the Lone Star state, Alabama and Utah. New locations are planned for Bozeman, Montana, Fort Collins, Colorado and San Jose, California.

“We continue to be excited for the growing interest in the Super Chix brand and the solid franchise groups we are attracting,” CEO Darryl Neider says in a news release. “These new franchise groups are incredibly solid, already active in other concepts in these markets and will bring a lot of value to the brand and our development (in Ammon).”

Hawes says he plans to open a store in Logan, Utah, Pocatello and Rexburg in the near future. He’s excited to begin serving customers in eastern Idaho.

“This spot will be one of the best Super Chix locations in Idaho. Experience shows people like to eat out in the Idaho Falls area,” Hawes says. “We’re excited to be in Idaho Falls. We’ve got some family here and it’s great to be here.”

The hours of operation have not yet been determined, but Hawes says it will be open seven days a week. Visit the website or Facebook page for more information.
