Santa Bucks program helps feeding hungry Idahoans

POCATELLO (KPVI) — There’s a lot of helping hands in eastern Idaho — especially during the holidays.

This year during the annual “Santa Bucks” campaign, Albertsons and The Idaho Foodbank came together to help needy Idahoans during the holiday season.

“On behalf of Albertsons, we would like to thank our amazing customers and our store teams for making this donation of holiday meals possible,” Albertsons spokesman John Colgrove says.

The Santa Bucks campaign, spearheaded by the grocery retailer, aims to help the 1 in 9 Idahoans that deal with hunger during the holidays.

“We were able to provide 2,055 complete holiday meals to the Idaho Foodbank through our Santa Bucks campaign,” Colgrove said.

Albertsons is a frequent partner with the the Idaho Food Bank, according to Idaho FoodBank CEO Karen Vauk.

“They have been one of our loyal and dedicated partners, in fact I call them our ‘all in’ partner,” Vauk said.

This year, the Santa Bucks contributions, plus the organization’s Turkey Bucks campaign, which started in mid-October, helped raise some 6,500-plus meals for Idahoans.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s volunteers or additional support they’re there to support the Idaho Foodbank because they want to help the communities in need,” Vauk said.
