Idaho Falls School District 91 selects two finalists for superintendent position

IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls School District 91 is holding a meet and greet evening for the two final candidates who are vying for the position of superintendent in the district.

The school board is hoping to get your feedback on the final two candidates, and patrons are encouraged to attend in-person or virtually. The event will be held at Taylorview Middle School at 350 Castlerock Lane on Monday, March 29. There will be an informal session with the candidates between 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. A formal question and answer period will be held between 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Patrons can fill out question cards at the meet and greet or submit them online in advance. For those submitting online, please email them to Misty at misty@idsba.org by 2 p.m. on March 29.

More information about the two final candidates is below:

Dr. Eric Pingrey

Dr. Pingrey is currently the Superintendent at Walker Hackensak Akeley Independent School District in Walker, Minnesota. Prior to that, he was a principal for the Converse County School District in Douglas, Wyoming, and a principal for the Custer School District in Custer, South Dakota. He was also a Court Services Officer for the Unified Judicial System, an ExCEL Program Administrator for the Department of Corrections, and a Youth Counselor/Teacher for the Department of Corrections. He has a bachelor’s degree in History and Social Science, a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, a master’s degree in Education Administration and a Secondary Principal Administrative Certificate, and a doctoral degree in Education Administration Superintendent.

Dr. James Shank

Dr. Shank is currently the Superintendent at Cassia County Schools in Burley, Idaho. Prior to that he was Superintendent at Coupeville School District in Coupeville, Washington, and Superintendent at Juab School District in Nephi, Utah. He was also the Director of Special Education for the Coupeville School District in Coupeville, Washington, and a principal in the Idaho Falls and Aberdeen School Districts. He has a bachelor’s degree in Special Education, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.
