IDAHO FALLS — Police found a man wanted on several warrants carrying an $11,000 check in someone else’s name.

Some of 29-year-old Tyler Robert Buchmiller’s warrants were related to a case from November where he is accused of forging checks. According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdhaoNews.com, when police arrested Bunchmiller, he allegedly had checks and debit cards belonging to several people.

The Idaho Falls Police Department found Buchmiller on March 5 at Fred Meyer after someone noticed the wanted man inside. When officers arrived, they searched his backpack and found drug paraphernalia and nine checks and checkbooks belonging to others. Police also discovered three cell phones, according to the probable cause.

Two of the checks and a checkbook belonged to a couple from Richland Washington and the others to another man. Officers then discovered some of the checks Buchmiller allegedly had were fake, including ones that had the name of a local property management company on them.

Police took Buchmiller to the Bonneville County Jail on his warrants. Jail staff said they found he had the $11,000 check, two debit cards, two driver’s licenses, a Social Security card and two insurance cards belonging to others.

With all the items belonging to others, police asked prosecutors to give Buchmiller additional theft charges. Between the cases, Buchmiller faces six felony counts of grand theft and four felony counts of forgery. Buchmiller also faces numerous misdemeanor charges in multiple pending cases.

Buchmiller remains held in the Bonneville County Jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday.

Although Buchmiller is charged with crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
