Man arrested for attack with electric guitar

IDAHO FALLS — Police arrested an Idaho Falls man for allegedly attacking another man with an electric guitar.

The alleged attack happened on Oct. 26, 2020, when Brandon Anthony Charboneau, 34, had just been released from prison, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdahoNews.com. Charboneau was charged last year with felony aggravated battery but made his initial appearance Thursday.

The victim called the Idaho Falls Police department after friends took him to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. In initial interviews with officers, the victim said Charboneau used the instrument to hit him on the head while he was in his bedroom. Court documents explain how Charboneau and the victim knew each other.

At the hospital, medical staff determined the victim sustained a huge laceration and suffered a major concussion. The injuries sent the victim in and out of consciousness, according to police reports.

The victim said he did not know why he was attacked. A witness says the victim’s room was covered in blood and the guitar was broken in the attack.

Charboneau is connected with multiple criminal cases in Bingham County and was finally brought to Bonneville County this week. His bail was set at $10,000.

Although Charboneau is accused of a crime it does not necessarily mean he committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
