OSGOOD — A reward is being offered for information about those responsible for illegally slaughtering over a dozen mallard ducks.

Idaho Department of Fish and Game conservation officers discovered 20 mallard ducks and one wigeon were shot and left to waste in a field near north 26th West in the Osgood area. The incident happened on Sept. 26.

“Waterfowl are a resource highly valued in this community, and there are hungry people who would have eaten these wasted ducks,” senior conservation officer Austin Smith said in a news release.

It’s unclear whether the ducks were shot at the site or later dumped there.

Smith told EastIdahoNews.com they are asking for the public’s help in solving the crime. He said those responsible could face a misdemeanor citation. Two concerned anonymous citizens have put up the $600 reward for information leading to the citations.

“The suspects may have posted pictures or videos on social media,” Smith said.
