CHUBBUCK — In a world of locked doors and set business hours, one entrepreneur is flipping the script with her self-serve Farm Fresh Farmstand that never closes. Maddie Giesbrecht’s front-yard stand offers fresh eggs, seasonal produce, homemade treats, and artisan goods any time of the day or night.

The idea sprouted from Giesbrecht’s desire to make extra money from home while raising a family and running a hobby farm with her husband Doug on their property at 702 West Chubbuck Road.

In addition to the items that Giesbrecht provides from the farm and her kitchen, she reached out to various community vendors who jumped on board the business opportunity.

Now, in its second year, Giesbrecht said her business has become everything she wanted it to be, making shopping easy and convenient for her customers.

“I’ve even had customers show up in the middle of the night in bathrobes and pajamas for a midnight snack,” she laughed.

Some of this year’s new offerings include unique jam flavors like chocolate cherry, honey pear, and candied lemon.

Other additions include local honey from Perky’s Bee and Gardens (one of the most requested items), goat milk soaps from Lia Cannon, herbal tinctures from 3 Sisters Apothecary, homemade spice blends, dog treats, teas, fire cider kits and even homemade creamers.

Fresh-cut flowers and produce will arrive throughout the season, adding even more color and selection to the already cheerful stand.

Returning favorites include sourdough bread (and sourdough starts), duck, chicken, and quail eggs, charcuterie boards by Taylor Roskelley, healing oils by Tara Treasure, tallow and elderberry syrup by Kalee Nielsen.

There are candles, vegetable and flower starts, and the ever-popular “Blind Dates with a Book” from Your Bookish Bestie. Sweet tooths won’t be disappointed either — cheesecakes by Amazing Glaze are also back in rotation.

“The baked goods and fresh eggs tend to go fast,” Giesbrecht said. “They’re first come, first served — so don’t wait too long!”

The Giesbrechts currently have silky Nigerian bucklings available. Giesbrecht invites interested folks to message her on the Farm Fresh Farmstand Facebook for more details.

The farmstand, open from April through October, runs on the honor system. Payment is accepted via Venmo or cash. However, Giesbrecht advises cash customers to bring the exact amount since change isn’t available.

Farm Fresh is well-lit at night and equipped with security cameras, which keep theft and vandalism at bay.

“People have been very respectful. We’ve had no trouble with vandalism and minor incidents with theft, mostly teenagers going by. The security cameras and good neighbors make it easy to find them,” she said.

Giesbrecht welcomes new vendors — so long as their offerings don’t directly compete with her current partners. She encourages local creators and makers to reach out if they have something unique to offer.

Customers can keep up with Farm Fresh Farmstand’s offerings on Facebook and send Giesbrecht a private message with questions or vendor inquiries.
