BLACKFOOT — Over one ton of food was delivered Tuesday morning to the Blackfoot Community Pantry & Outreach Center.
According to a news release from JustServe, a national nonprofit connecting people with local service opportunities, in partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, has been delivering 250 semi-truckloads across America, with Blackfoot being a recipient of one of these trucks.
“This week, volunteers unloaded 26 pallets — approximately 36,000 pounds — of food that will support not only the Blackfoot Food Pantry, which distributes more than 200 free food boxes each week, but also other local pantries and nonprofit organizations serving families throughout Bingham County and surrounding areas,” the release states.
In 2025, EastIdahoNews.com previously reported that the outreach center was expanded after the Community Dinner Table announced plans to purchase the 250 West Judicial Street building to expand its operations as a food pantry.
CDT will work with local organizations within Bingham County to share this donation. Those who are interested can reach out to the Outreach Center.
The release states that the delivery of the food comes at an important time, as the outreach center can now handle a donation of this size.
“The moment the semi rolled into Blackfoot was incredibly moving,” Katie Harris said, Blackfoot Area Communication Director for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in a news release. “You could immediately see that this was bigger than a food delivery. It was community organizations, volunteers, and neighbors coming together to help care for people in our area.”
