Rexburg Farmers Market opens Friday with more vendors and new family fun

REXBURG — The Rexburg Farmers Market kicks off this Friday with more vendors, a new layout and added family activities aimed at keeping visitors around a little longer.
The market, one of the few in the area held on Fridays to avoid competing with larger Saturday markets in nearby cities, will be open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s located at the Madison County Fairgrounds and from May through September.
According to market president Larry Golden, the number of vendors has grown to 81 this year, prompting organizers to expand and redesign the layout.
Vendor offerings include the always-popular fresh produce and baked goods, fresh flowers and vegetable plants, as well as locally raised meat and homemade beauty products.
The market is also introducing yard games — including bean bag tic-tac-toe, connect four and cornhole — to create a more interactive atmosphere.

“The idea is to keep people at the farmer’s market longer with things to do,” Golden said. “The more they hang around, the more money they’ll spend.”
He said the addition of Bank of Commerce as a new sponsor has greatly boosted the market’s visibility through signage, flags, tents and branding.
“Having Bank of Commerce on board is our biggest win this season,” Golden said.
Weekly themed events hosted by local businesses will continue throughout the summer, along with live music, which begins on opening night.
Marketing manager Jamie Ashcraft said organizers are focused on building a more vibrant experience for both vendors and visitors.
“We’re working on scheduling more people throughout the season for a bigger market,” Ashcraft said. “We have an expanded area with more vendors, and it’s going to be fun. We can’t wait to see everyone.”
Organizers are also planning a special event tied to Independence Day and American250 celebrations. On July 3, the market will relocate to Porter Park, with a concert planned at the high school. Additional details are expected to be announced closer to the event.
With a growing vendor lineup, added entertainment and community partnerships, organizers say this year’s market is designed to be more than just a place to shop; it’s a place to bring the family and stay awhile.
