Portneuf Valley Childcare & Pre-K Fair connects families with local resources

POCATELLO — Finding the right early education options for children can be challenging. The upcoming Portneuf Valley Childcare & Pre-K Fair can help by connecting families with local childcare providers, preschool programs and other early learning resources all in one place.
The free event will be this Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Museum of Clean event center, 711 S. Second Avenue in Pocatello.
Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to meet representatives from local childcare centers, preschool programs, and family support organizations, ask questions, and learn about services available throughout the Portneuf Valley.
“The fair is intended to help families connect with early learning opportunities and resources to support young children as they prepare for kindergarten and beyond,” said organizer Lupe Olvera Alvarez.
Additionally, free on-site screenings will also be offered, including hearing and vision checks as well as Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) developmental screenings for children ages 0 to 3.
The event is hosted by the Bannock County Early Learning Collaborative in partnership with “Read, Talk Play, Every Day” and United Way of Southeastern Idaho.
“Read, Talk, Play, Every Day” is an initiative that encourages parents to read, talk, and play with their children daily to help build the cognitive, social, and emotional skills needed for success in school and life.
United Way of Southeastern Idaho serves Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida, and Power counties. It works with community partners to improve education, health, and financial stability for individuals and families throughout the region.
