Coroner identifies man who died at St. Anthony Sand Dunes

ST. ANTHONY — The Fremont County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes in an off-highway vehicle crash on July 10.
Coroner Brenda Dye identified the man as Mark Francis, 66, of Hardin, Montana. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.
According to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, responders were called to the sand dunes and found bystanders actively performing CPR on the Frances.

More details on the crash are currently unknown.
“Despite lifesaving efforts by both bystanders and emergency personnel, Francis was pronounced deceased at the scene,” says the sheriff’s office.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities say no further information will be released.
Meanwhile, emergency responders “extend their sincere condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones,” and they’re reminding the public to be careful while recreating on the dunes or elsewhere.
“As summer recreation continues, we encourage everyone visiting the dunes and other off-road areas to use caution, be aware of changing terrain conditions, and always wear appropriate protective gear,” the news release says.
