Coroners identify man and woman killed in wrong-way chase near Shelley

SHELLEY — Two coroners have identified the people who were killed in a wrong-way crash near Shelley.
Bonneville County Coroner Shante Sanchez has identified the woman as Ashlee Kollars, 32, of Pocatello.
The preliminary cause of death is blunt force injuries sustained in the motor vehicle accident, according to a Facebook post from the coroner’s office.
Bingham County Coroner Jimmy Roberts identified the man as Justin David Kindred, 38. His office did not confirm where he was from or the cause of his death.

According to a news release from the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, on July 12, around 11 p.m., members of the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Joint Investigation Division were in the area of a home on 1250 North West of Shelley after a reported sighting of a man with a confirmed felony warrant.
The man was identified as Kindred.
While announcing themselves from outside the home, Kindred reportedly fled in a car, traveling westbound on 1250 North towards Interstate 15. Kindred was driving into the oncoming lane without lights.
He then turned south onto I-15 in the northbound lanes and continued to speed while driving toward oncoming traffic.
Deputies tried to position themselves to deploy spike strips to slow the vehicle.
A Bingham County deputy intervened by performing a pursuit immobilization technique (PIT maneuver). Kindred’s car then left the road and rolled, resulting in both him and an adult female passenger, identified as Kollars, being ejected.
Kindred died on scene, and Kollars was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center via Shelley ambulance, where she later died.
“We respect that window of time prior to the release as added privacy for family having been notified of tragedy just hours ago,” says the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office in the release. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.”
