IDAHO FALLS – Melaleuca has been ranked No. 2 on Forbes‘ new Best Brands for Value list, earning national recognition for the value it provides consumers.

Costco took the No. 1 spot and the Wellness Company, based in Idaho Falls, outperformed well-known businesses such as Lands’ End, Sam’s Club, Toyota, USAA and others.

Melaleuca Executive Chairman Frank VanderSloot said he was “blown away” when he learned the news last week.

“We got a phone call about six days ago saying we were on this list as No. 2 out of millions of companies in America and the only company ahead of us is Costco,” VanderSloot told EastIdahoNews.com. “We didn’t even know that this research was happening.”

Forbes partnered with HundredX, a data and insights company, to compile 4.7 million ratings by around 160,000 consumers. More than 5,500 brands were evaluated between June 2025 and May 2026. The ratings were analyzed within a framework that defined value as the highest quality at the lowest price.

“We don’t try to be the cheapest, we just try to be the best. We won’t sell it unless it has good science behind it,” VanderSloot explained. “I think that’s paid off for us – our insistence that we have better products.”

Melaleuca was founded in 1985 and sells around 450 products, most of which are made in Idaho Falls. The company generates over $2 billion in annual revenue and has more than 5,200 employees.

Last year, USA TODAY ranked Melaleuca as one of the country’s most trusted brands and Forbes has included the company on its Best Employers in America list, along with the Best Employers for Women list. In April, Forbes named VanderSloot No. 43 on its list of the greatest living self-made Americans.

“Our founding axiom is exceptional products at reasonable prices. We’ve got to produce better than what’s in the marketplace – wellness products, healthy products, products that do a better job, are safer to use and are proven to be more effective than what’s in the marketplace,” VanderSloot said. “Word of mouth is how we do it. We don’t have a PR firm. Our customers are our PR firm. They spread the good word and here we are.”

Other companies that made the Best Brands for Value list include Drury Hotels, Consumer Cellular, Lexus, Canva, Hampton Inn, and In-N-Out Burger.

VanderSloot said the credit belongs to the “bright people” on his team and “a fair share of blessings” that have come to the company.
