HEYBURN — A police sergeant was arrested Tuesday morning as part of an investigation into alleged internet crimes against children.
Sergeant Noah Shiner has worked for the Heyburn City Police Department for the last ten years, according to a news release from the city. He was arrested in connection to an investigation being conducted by Idaho State Police and the Idaho Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Shiner has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

“This is shocking news for our department and for the community we serve,” Chief Ryan Bertalotto said in the release. “We take allegations of this nature extremely seriously. It is our responsibility as law enforcement officers to protect the vulnerable members of our community, and we hold every employee of this department to the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct.”
Further information about the investigation and alleged crimes was not released Tuesday, but the Heyburn Police Department says it “recognizes the potential impact on anyone who may have been victimized.”
“We understand the community has many questions, as do we, but out of respect for the investigative and judicial process we are unable to provide additional comment at this time,” the news release says.
