ARIMO — A south Bannock county family is offering a $5,000 reward after their ranch horse was found shot on private property near Arimo over the weekend.
Bruce and Dawn Ann Bradley of Hawkins say their horse, Doc, was found dead midday Saturday, Aug. 8, in the Hawkins Basin area west of Arimo.
Dawn Ann said Doc had been ridden by their grandchildren late Friday afternoon before he was returned to a pasture on private property.
The following day, the family began searching for him after he failed to come in for water with another horse.
When they found Doc, he had suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
“There’s evidence that Doc did not initially die from the gunshot wound,” Dawn Ann said. “It appears he was able to walk for a while before he ultimately bled out.”

The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office was notified Saturday and responded to investigate. According to the family, authorities confirmed that Doc had been shot.
Doc was described as a well-loved children’s horse who was also regularly used for work around the family’s ranch.
The family is offering the reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible.
“Hopefully, we can find who did this. It’s not something we can just let go,” Dawn Ann said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office at 208-236-7111. Case #26-B3133
