AMMON — Think you can drink a quart of eggnog and still run a mile? The City of Ammon is giving you the chance to find out this weekend.

The fourth annual Ammon Nogathon Fun Run returns Saturday, Nov. 7, at McCowin Park, where participants will trade traditional race-day refreshments for something a little thicker and a whole lot more festive: Reed’s Dairy eggnog.

The challenge is simple — complete four laps around a quarter-mile course, drinking an 8-ounce cup of eggnog before each lap. By the finish line, participants will have consumed 32 ounces of eggnog and traveled a full mile.

Costumes are encouraged, and previous years have featured plenty of festive and silly outfits. Trash cans will also be available around the course for anyone who finds the combination of running and eggnog a little too challenging.

The fun begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCowin Park, 3000 Southwick Lane. Check-in for preregistered participants starts at 1 p.m.

Online registration is available through Friday for $15. Walk-up registration will also be accepted at the swimming pool window on race day. Extra T-shirts and swag bags have been ordered, but supplies aren’t guaranteed.
