IDAHO FALLS – Ben Fuhriman will retain his seat in the Idaho House.
The Republican incumbent for District 30 Seat B won Tuesday’s general election against his Democratic challenger, Breane Buckingham. As of 10:45 p.m., Fuhriman has 74% of the vote, with a total of 11,867 votes. Buckingham earned 26% of the vote, or 4,110 total votes.
Legislative District 30 encompasses Bingham and Butte Counties.
Fuhriman, 42, of Shelley, has occupied the seat since 2024, when he defeated Julianne Young by four votes. The two went head-to-head again during the May primary.

Fuhriman could not be reached for comment Tuesday night. In his responses to the EastIdahoNews.com questionnaire, he said he opposed Proposition 1 and HJR 4.
Rep. David Canon ran unopposed for House seat A.

In the District 30 Senate race, Republican Julie VanOrden secured the victory against her challenger, Democrat Joni Lin Sorenson. Although Sorenson dropped out of the race, she did not withdraw before the deadline, so she still appeared on the ballot. VanOrden earned 76% of the vote (12,259 total votes) and Sorenson had 24% of the vote (3,865 total votes).
All three winners will be sworn in to office in December ahead of the 2027 Legislative Session.
