POCATELLO -— It’s the time of year again when you can give a Pocatello cop the bird — and they’ll actually thank you for it!

The Pocatello Police Department is asking the community to help put Thanksgiving dinner on the tables of local families through its eighth annual “Give the Cops a Bird” turkey and food drive.

Now through Nov. 20, the department is collecting frozen turkeys and monetary donations to help families facing food insecurity during the holiday season.

The annual effort is held in partnership with the Idaho Foodbank, which helps distribute food to families in need throughout the region.

Community members can drop off turkeys at the Pocatello Police Department or make monetary donations through Venmo at @ppdunion. Cash donations are also accepted, along with checks made payable to the Pocatello FOP Union.

Organizers hope to make this year’s drive one of the most successful yet, emphasizing that donations of any size can help make Thanksgiving a little brighter for local families.

For more information or assistance with donations, contact Cpl. Hansen at (208) 234-6131.
