New Film Features E-Cigarettes Product Placement
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — E-cigarettes are coming to the movies.
For the past 16 years, tobacco companies have been forbidden from product placement in the industry. But those restrictions don’t apply to e-cigs.
“I don’t see a problem with glamorizing something that saves lives,” SmokeStik’s CEO Bill Marangos tells The Wall Street Journal.
Marangos’ company paid for product placement in a new film adaptation of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline.
In the movie, actress Milla Jovovich is shown puffing on a SmokeStik. And, as the newspaper notes, signs for the brand can be seen hanging in a convenience store during one scene.
